This family-run business was founded by Thomas O’Berry. John D. Lewis, Sr. joined the agency in 1946 and served as CEO until his death in 1999. In 1980, his son and current principal agent John D. Lewis, Jr. joined the agency. John is proud of the great reputation the agency has earned over the years.

John is a graduate of UNC Chapel Hill and holds the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation. The six staff members are licensed, experienced and considerate. The agency was voted “Best Insurance Agency” in 2015 by the citizens of Wayne County in a competition sponsored by the Goldsboro News-Argus. John’s son Gaston joined the agency in 2011 as a producer and holds the Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designation.

Taking Care of the Community

The agency makes its local community a priority as well. It sponsors organizations like Boy Scouts of America and the Boys & Girls Club. In addition to being active with the Wayne County Veteran’s Memorial Trustees, John is a chamber of commerce member. His son Gaston is an active member of the Wayne County Chamber of Commerce Military Affairs committee.
